Samsung One UI 6.1 adds a smart feature to extend your battery life
Samsung introduced a new feature named Battery Protection with One UI 6.1 to extend the battery life of Galaxy devices. It allows you to choose how much you want to charge your phone and when to stop charging.
Keeping your device battery at a full 100% charge for a long time can reduce its lifespan. To prevent this, you can use the battery protection feature to limit the charge to 80% or 85% or to switch between different charging modes.

You can easily enable the Battery Protection feature on your One UI 6.1 device as it is found under your device’s Settings >> Battery >> Battery Protection. It offers three modes:
Basic
- This mode stops charging when your battery reaches 100% and resumes charging when it drops to 95%. This way, your battery stays close to full without overcharging.
Adaptive
- This mode uses AI to learn your phone usage patterns and optimize the charging schedule. It uses the Maximum mode while you’re asleep and switches to the Basic mode before you wake up. This way, your battery is fully charged when you need it, but not overcharged when you don’t.
Maximum
- This mode limits the charge to 80%, which is the optimal level for preserving the battery health. This mode is recommended for users who don’t need a full charge every day, or who have access to frequent charging.
