The Danish Energy Agency publishes Plan for Program Bornholm Energy Island

Plan for Program Bornholm Energy Island sets the framework for the future Energy Island at Bornholm and the adjacent coastal areas. Bornholm Energy Island consist of an offshore wind farm south of Bornholm as well as high-voltage installations on Bornholm and Zealand. The energy island will have a capacity of up to 3.8 GW and will thus play an important role in the phasing out of fossil energy sources.

Denmark's largest tendering procedure for offshore wind power is launched

The procurement procedure being announced by the Danish Energy Agency could entail a massive increase in Danish offshore wind capacity. The procurement procedure will enable establishment of a minimum of 6 GW offshore wind power, to be completed in 2030.

Three new CCS projects have been pledged support to capture and store biogenic CO2

The fund for negative CO2 emissions (NECCS fund) has been completed, and the Danish Energy Agency has awarded contracts to three companies for new CCS projects. Together, the projects will ensure the capture and storage of 160,350 tonnes of CO2 annually during the period 2026 to 2032. This corresponds to the annual CO2 absorption from approximately 16,000 hectares of forest.

The Danish Energy Agency initiates the second public consultation regarding the plan for Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm

Call for remarks on the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the plan for Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm (OWF). A public meeting about the consultation material will be held in Gilleleje on 19 March 2024.

The Danish Energy Agency presents new draft tender materials for 6 GW offshore wind and invites for a follow-up market dialogue

Today the Danish Energy Agency is publishing a revised draft of the procurement material for the upcoming of 6 GW of offshore wind, with the option to overplant, for the purpose of an additional market dialogue. The procurements are expected to be opened during the spring of 2024. Certain parts of the draft material are relevant for the procurement of offshore wind at Energy Island Bornholm.
